I have used a risk setting of 6, because something above that could ruin the whole system.

 

How do I know? Because I have tested it!

 

If you increase the risk setting to 7, you will see what I mean.

 

From time to time you will notice that even small changes can make a big difference.

 

Just a little less or a little more risk might make the difference between profit and a total loss.

 

With an Algorithmic Trading you can find out, what the right settings would have been.

 

But how do you make a decision for the next year, the market might change and you need to decide.

 

You can’t predict the future, but you can always do several tests for the last 8 or 10 years.

 

Pick something that worked for the last few years.

 

I usually do a backtest for 8 to 10 years for several currency pairs to find out what works and what doesn’t work.

 

Does that mean, that I can guarantee that it will work for the next year?

 

No, I can’t. But I can tell you that the probability is above average that it will work – and that is the only kind of market advantage that I need.
